A person informed of the injury now tells NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that the team expects Wilson to be out three weeks. There is a possibility the injury could end his season, pending a consultation with spinal surgeon Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles.

Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw opted for surgery after visiting the same specialist a couple of weeks ago. Wilson isn't necessarily doomed to the same fate.

It's believed that the disappointing "Making the Leap" candidate is dealing with a disc-related injury in his neck. According to the New York Daily News, there is hope that it will "settle down within a couple of weeks" of getting treatment.

Thanks to the Week 9 bye, the Giants play just twice in the next 30 days after Thursday night's game at Chicago.

Brandon Jacobs will get the first shot at replacing Wilson on early downs, but he's clearly lost several steps over the past couple of years. Don't be surprised if the recently re-signed Da'Rel Scott is forced into a major role until Wilson returns.
