Richard Seymour reportedly on 49ers, Lions' radar

Richard Seymour continues to wait for the right situation to pop up before he returns to the field.

The All-Pro defensive lineman told CBS Sports that he is willing to return to a "contending" team by Week 10.

It seems clear that Seymour is waiting to see what injuries could make teams desperate for his help.

The San Francisco 49ers reached out to Seymour after they lost Aldon Smith, but the sides weren't close on compensation, CBS Sports reported Sunday. The Detroit Lions, who lost Jason Jones earlier this season, could be another destination, according to the report. Seymour might want to wait to see if a team like Detroit will be a true contender.

Seymour's versatility would make him a desirable addition at this stage of the season. He has been content to sit out if no team is willing to pay what he deems proper compensation for his services. A team might get desperate enough to meet those demands before Week 10.
