NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network's "Around the League Live" Thursday that the Browns would have traded for Eugene Monroe had they known he was available leading up to the Jaguars-Ravens swap.
Joe Thomas is locked in on Brian Hoyer's blindside as one of the NFL's premier left tackles, which suggests that Schwartz would have lost his job or moved inside to guard had the team acquired Monroe.
It's no surprise that the Browns are not sold on Schwartz. The Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reported two weeks ago that the team's brass is watching the No. 37 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft "very closely" to determine if he's a building block on the offensive line.
