Michael Jenkins reportedly cuts pay for Vikings

Wide receiver Michael Jenkins has agreed to reduce his salary in the two years remaining on his contract with the Minnesota Vikings, ESPN1500 in Minnesota reported on Tuesday.

Citing league sources, the station reported that the eight-year veteran reduced his 2012 base salary from $2.5 million to $1 million, and his 2013 salary from $2.5 million to $825,000.

Jenkins, 30, made the move to increase his chances of making the team's roster. His roster bonus increased from $750,000 to $2.425 million, so if he makes the team he will recover some of that lost salary.

Last season, receivers Bernard Berrian and Greg Camarillo made similar deals and made the team.

Jenkins had 38 receptions for 466 yards and three touchdowns for the Vikings last season after seven years with the Atlanta Falcons.
