Report: Cody Latimer's workout to draw at least 17 NFL teams

Indiana wide receiver Cody Latimer is receiving a lot of pre-draft attention of late, and he will get to show off his wares at a private workout on April 25 at Indiana.

Latimer (6-foot-2 1/2, 215 pounds) had foot surgery in January and was unable to work out at the combine or at Indiana's pro day. The April 25 workout probably will play a big role in his evaluation.

The National Football Post reported that at least 17 teams have expressed interest in attending his workout. Latimer already has met with Buffalo, Carolina and Philadelphia and has meetings set up with Detroit (Friday), Oakland (April 14), Seattle (April 15) and San Diego (April 16). The NFP reported that he also is expected to meet with Washington.

NFL Media draft analyst Bucky Brooks said he believes the recent hype is justified, writing in his latest Scout's Take Blog entry, "Although he is still a work in progress as a route-runner, he has all of the traits to develop into a solid starter in the NFL, with the potential to become a No. 1 receiver."

Some draft analysts have speculated that Latimer could go late in the first round or early in the second. If Latimer does go in the first round, he would be the first Hoosier to go that early since wide receiver Thomas Lewis in 1994, to the New York Giants. Indiana has had just 12 players drafted this century.

Latimer left Indiana after his junior season. He had 123 receptions for 1,901 yards (15.5 yards per reception) and 15 TDs in his final two seasons with the Hoosiers. He has played just five seasons of organized football.
