New England Patriots' Rob Gronkowski out for Week 1

All fantasy football fans holding out hope that by the power of some Belichickian miracle Rob Gronkowski would play Week 1 won't get their wish.

Gronkowski didn't make the trip with the New England Patriots to Buffalo, NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Saturday, per a source. The Pats later officially downgraded Gronkowski to out for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Gronk underwent back and forearm surgeries this offseason. The tight end practiced on a limited basis this week, but was officially listed as doubtful prior to the game. Saturday's news confirms he won't play.

The Gronk-watch moves into Week 2.
