Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw is close to returning to the field after sitting out the entire preseason. Bradshaw signed with the Colts this offseason after undergoing foot surgery in January.
Chuck Pagano said the running back is making improvements, and the coach is hopeful to have the presumed starter in Sunday's season opener against the Oakland Raiders.
"I think he's in a really good place mentally," Pagano said Sunday, via The Indianapolis Star reported Sunday. "I know physically, he's real close to getting back, and hopefully we'll increase his snaps this week and hopefully he's ready for this game."
Bradshaw has suffered from chronic foot problems, and staying healthy has been a struggle his entire career.
The Colts lack a true bell-cow back, so when Bradshaw returns to the field, he should receive the bulk of the carries. While he'll share carries with Vick Ballard and Donald Brown, Bradshaw will be the back counted on to take the pressure off Andrew Luck and the passing game.
