The Seattle Seahawks have pulled the plug on The Real Rob Report.
Fullback and team leader Michael Robinsontweeted Friday that he was part of the Seahawks' final cuts, just two years removed from his lone Pro Bowl appearance.
Robinson, 30, had several factors working against him, not least of which was a $2.5 million base salary -- high for a fullback in today's NFL.
The Seahawks need a lead blocker now. Robinson has missed the past 10 days with an illness that could keep him out for a few more weeks, according to the Seattle Times.
With Robinson out of the picture, Derrick Coleman and sixth-round draft pick Spencer Ware are in the mix to start at fullback. Undrafted out of UCLA in 2012, Coleman is one of league's best stories. He has been nearly deaf since age 3 because of a genetic hearing impairment.
Don't be surprised if the Seahawks keep the door open for Robinson's return at a reduced salary once he kicks whatever malady it is that's currently ailing him.
