Injured guard Jon Halapio to miss additional time for Gators

When fall football camp opened for the Florida Gators, standout offensive lineman Jon Halapio knew he'd miss at least a week with a tear in his pectoral muscle. Now, he's learned he'll miss yet another week.

At least.

The fifth-year senior guard's injury will keep him out another 7-10 days, according to word coming out of coach Will Muschamp's Monday news conference:

The worst-case scenario of that projection essentially puts Halapio out for the entirety of fall camp, at least from full contact, and returns him to the lineup just in time for game week. UF opens the season against Toledo Aug. 31.

Halapio, however, is just one of several Gators who have been withheld from camp due to health issues. Receiver Andre Debose has been lost for the season with a knee injury. Running back Matt Jones remains out with a viral infection, and defensive back Jaylen Watkins will now miss some action with a sprained foot. Quarterback Jeff Driskel, who missed the opening week of training camp after an appendectomy, returned to practice a few days ago and is apparently ready today to begin practicing in full gear:
