West Virginia's pass defense was nothing to write home about in 2012, finishing third-to-last in the nation in yards allowed (312 per game) and second-to-last in touchdowns allowed (38). Now the Mountaineers will be without one of the youngsters expected to deliver improvement in coverage, as Nana Kyeremeh will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

"(The shoulder) was loose when he got here and played last year, and it was loose in the spring," head coach Dana Holgorsen told the West Virginia MetroNews. "We let him try to play through it for about two days (of fall camp), and it got loose and popped out."

Kyeremeh appeared in all 13 games last season as a true freshman, starting one, while recording 16 tackles and two pass breakups. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Worthington, Ohio was projected as a starter on the depth chart going into fall camp.
