Lewis mad at Vontaze Burfict for Steven Jackson fight

It's fighting time. Yes, this is the time of year when veterans are tired of the monotony of training camp. Their bodies are sore, and their minds are frazzled.

This year is no different. Packers tight end Jermichael Finley can be seen throwing some wild roundhouse punches at practice Tuesday in this video from WLUK-TV in Green Bay. Finley is lucky he didn't connect because it never pays to connect with a teammate's helmet.

In Cincinnati, coach Marvin Lewis was furious with Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict for jumping on the back of Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson after breaking through a block.

"He was wrong," Lewis said of Burfict. "I told him if he did to me what he did with Steven, I would have hit him with a 2x4. Steven should have got him in his sleep last night. It's wrong. That's what he's got to understand, don't cross the line and be wrong."

Burfict had a number of unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties in college, but he mostly has kept his temper in line as a pro. But these are the dog days of camp. Perhaps the start of the preseason will provide the kind of release that some players need.

If not, there are always 2x4s lying around.
