Bears head coach Art Briles plans to subject opponents to a little spelling bee this season -- "W-A-T-C-H O-U-T" -- the Waco Tribune reports.

Iowa State

The Cyclones will use the pistol formation more this season, something new offensive line coach Chris Klenakis knows well from his time at Nevada, the Ames Tribune reports.

Kansas

As the Jayhawks prepare to open camp Thursday, defensive back Cassius Sendish leads a wave of junior-college transfers being counted on to deliver immediate returns, the Kansas City Star reports.

Kansas State

As the Wildcats prepare to defend their Big 12 title, head coach Bill Snyder reflects on how far the program has come under his watch with the Kansas City Star.

Oklahoma

D.J. Ward is not the only young Oklahoma defensive end dealing with a medical issue, leaving the Sooners without the depth they need, the Oklahoman reports.

Oklahoma State

Cowboys defensive MVP Shaun Lewis rankled some Sooners fans by taking a picture with two Oklahoma cheerleaders at Big 12 media days, the Tulsa World notes.

TCU

The Horned Frogs can't seem to catch a break, losing a third player in less than a week, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Texas

Nothing is guaranteed for the Longhorns' offensive line, even though it returns 62 of 65 starts from last season, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

Texas Tech

The Red Raiders are still looking for Michael Brewer or Davis Webb to make a move in the quarterback competition, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports. It's not for lack of volume, however, with Texas Tech running 50 or more plays during each team period to end practice.
