Julio Jones to sit out Atlanta Falcons' preseason opener

The first week of the preseason usually doesn't feature a lot of action by NFL stars. In Julio Jones' case this week, it will include no action.

The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver will miss Thursday's game, coach Mike Smith told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jones was limited in Monday's practice with a hamstring injury. Smith called the move precautionary. We wouldn't be too concerned considering Jones still could participate in the team's walk-through.

Unlike the injury to linebacker Sean Weatherspoon's finger, this doesn't appear like it will keep Jones out too long. (Weatherspoon is out indefinitely with a dislocated finger.)

This week of preseason games isn't about the stars. It's about the guys just trying to make the team.
