Justin Pugh sits N.Y. Giants practice with concussion

The New York Giants are down a man on the offensive line.

Rookie offensive tackle Justin Pugh sat out Friday's practice after he "took a shot in the head" in Thursday's session, coach Tom Coughlin told reporters, per the New York Daily News.

Pugh is expected to miss "a few days, at least," Coughlin said, while the team's first-round draft pick makes his way through the league's concussion protocol. The 23-year-old lineman out of Syracuse complained of headaches Friday, setting the process in motion.

Pugh has been battling with David Diehl for New York's starting right tackle spot. He was listed behind Diehl on the team's first unofficial depth chart, released Thursday, but the rookie has seen his share of action with the starters during camp. For now, Pugh's chances of stealing the job away are on hold.
