Mike Wallace skips Dolphins practice with groin issue

Brian Hartline returned to practice for the Miami Dolphins on Thursday after missing time with a calf issue. He didn't share the field with Mike Wallace.

Wallace told reporters he's battling a groin injury, according to The Miami Herald. The newly signed wide receiver said the issue is not too serious and he hopes to play in the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday in Canton, Ohio.

"Feeling pretty good, feel like it's getting there," Wallace told reporters after practice Thursday, via The Associated Press. "A lot more strength in my groin."

As per his policy, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin did not discuss the nature of Wallace's injury. Wallace might want to play in Miami's preseason opener Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, but don't be surprised if the Dolphins take a conservative approach.

When asked how badly he wanted to play against Dallas, Wallace replied: "Bad. This is a new situation for me, so I just want to get out there and feel it out, get with my new teammates and have a great time."

Wallace is too important (and expensive) for the Dolphins to take a chance at this early stage of the game.
