Geno Smith's conditioning 'fine to me,' Rex Ryan says

Geno Smith didn't keep the pace during New York Jets conditioning drills Sunday, prompting NFL Network's Brian Baldinger to call the display "embarrassing."

It was a surprising dispatch from Baldinger, who observed the rookie quarterback lagging well behind Mark Sanchez and other camp quarterbacks during gassers.

On Wednesday, Jets coach Rex Ryan downplayed any speculation that Smith is out of shape.

"He seems fine to me," Ryan said. "When he ran for 80 yards that one play he looked good to me."

And what was Smith's opinion on Baldinger's observation?

"I have none. That's his opinion," he said. "My coaches are the ones who are evaluating me, so I haven't heard that from them so I don't have anything to say to that."

So that's that. Smith appears to be in good shape, he says he is, and his coaches have no issues. We forge on as a society.
