NFL Films, HBO sign multiyear 'Hard Knocks' extension

Fans of HBO's "Hard Knocks" got great news this year when the network announced the Cincinnati Bengals as the next team to be featured on the awesome NFL Films documentary series about training camp.

NFL Films delivered more great news at a press conference with coach Marvin Lewis on Thursday. NFL Films has signed a multiyear contract extension with HBO to continue making the show.

NFL's summer drama

For over a decade, HBO's "Hard Knocks" has found drama in the drudgery of NFL training camp. Gregg Rosenthal revisits past classics via NFL Films. **More ...**

Before I worked in football or for the NFL, "Hard Knocks" was my favorite look into the inside world of pro football. That hasn't changed, even if it's not always easy to find a team to follow.

"It's always been tough (to find teams)," NFL Films senior coordinating producer Ross Ketover said.

But every year, at least one team steps up knowing it's good for the game.

Lewis said it was good for the Bengals to get used to media attention, and that he still hears how much people enjoyed the show when the team first was portrayed in 2009.

We can't wait for this season to start.
