The Chicago Bears have decided not to give Jay Cutler a long-term contract extension this offseason, but the quarterback isn't sweating his future.
"I haven't thought about it in a while, actually," Cutler told WVMP-AM on Tuesday. "I'll probably address it once in training camp, once before the season and that's kind of it. I'm not going to talk about it.
"That stuff takes care of itself. As long as we're winning football games and I'm playing well, hopefully they keep me around. If that doesn't happen, we'll see how it plays out. I'm not going to be distracted by it. I can't worry about it. I've been in this league long enough. I've seen guys come and guys go. It will work out the way it's supposed to work out."
Cutler enters the final season of his contract learning his fourth new offense in the past five years. He might not be worried about the future, but that doesn't mean he isn't thinking about being in Chicago down the road.
"I think this is the most talented team (physically) that I've been on in Chicago," he said. "So there's a lot of upside to what's happening with the Chicago Bears. But three years from now, if we're still in this offense and still have the guys around us, we'll clearly be farther along than we are this year."
