Report: Gabe Carimi to attend Chicago Bears minicamp

Gabe Carimi sat out Chicago Bears organized team activities this year, which shouldn't be a huge deal because they are "voluntary."

But Carimi, a 2011 first-round draft pick, is under the spotlight this offseason because he's a high-profile player who might not be a lock to even make the team this year. Skipping work isn't exactly the best way to impress new bosses, but Carimi will indeed be at the Bears' mandatory minicamp next week.

ESPNChicago.com reported Friday that Carimi will be at work next week. General manager Phil Emery indicated this week the Bears expected the offensive lineman to be at minicamp, although he wasn't entirely sure.

"That'll be up to Gabe," Emery said. "You may want to ask him that. I'm assuming that he will be."

Drafted as an offensive tackle, Carimi's path to a roster spot this season might be at guard.
