No one ever said Mike Williams -- the former USC star wide receiver -- wasn't talented. He just couldn't come close to living up to the hype. Now, he'll have another chance, this time north of the border.
The Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts announced they signed Williams to a contract on Thursday.
One of Matt Millen's many draft mistakes, Williams was one of the best stories of the 2010 NFL season, emerging from the wilderness after two years out of the league to catch 65 passes for the Seahawks. Williams finished second in that season's NFL Comeback Player of the Year voting to Michael Vick.
The rejuvenation was short-lived. Williams caught only 18 passes in an injury-plagued 2011 season and fizzled out of the NFL. Now, he's making one more try at professional football.
Despite his winding football road, Williams still only is 29 years old. Perhaps he's got another comeback or two left in him.Follow Gregg Rosenthal on Twitter @greggrosenthal.
