The latest example that Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly might prepare his team a little different than most: Wide receiver Jason Avant and tight end Clay Harbor both took snaps on the defensive side of the ball during organized team activities last week.
But it's not going to be a permanent change. Harbor says he was tried out just in case of emergency.

"I'm a tight end, and for emergency situations, and just versatility purposes, for me, I'm learning (outside linebacker)," Harbor told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Monday.
Avant took some snaps with the defensive backs, but he's not changing positions either. Both players might be on the roster bubble heading into training camp, and a little position versatility never hurts your chances of making the final 53-man roster.
"It's one of those things that I work hard, and whatever that may be, and whatever the team wants me to do, I'll do it," Avant said.
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick makes similar preparations from time to time with his offensive players suiting up both ways. In a perfect world, he never has to use his receivers on defense. Belichick and Kelly both know that NFL depth charts rarely look perfect by November, so it's better to be prepared.
