The Arizona Cardinals appear to be on the lookout for Daryl Washington insurance, following a four-game suspension and a recent arrest on domestic assault charges.

Free-agent linebacker Karlos Dansby is visiting the Cardinals on Wednesday, a source informed of his visit told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. Dansby previously had visited the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills, but he never came close to signing.

Mike Jurecki of XTRA-AM in Phoenix "hears" Dansby is looking for a multi-year contract, which might pose a problem for a Cardinals team that already has Washington, free-agent acquisition Jasper Brinkley and second-round pick Kevin Minter at inside linebacker.

Another challenge likely will be playing-time demands, as Dansby has started 91 of his last 92 games over the past six seasons. The Cardinals' need is for more of a stopgap option to fill in while Washington is out.

Dansby, who turns 32 in November, spent the first six years of his career on the Cardinals before the Miami Dolphins made him the highest-paid inside linebacker in NFL history back in 2010.
