Tom Heckert joins Denver Broncos' front office in personnel role

Tom Heckert will join the Denver Broncos as their new director of pro personnel, a team source told NFL.com's Albert Breer on Monday.

Heckert worked for the Miami Dolphins from 1991 to 2000. His next stint, with Philadelphia Eagles, lasted from 2001 to 2009. He started as director of player personnel, was promoted to vice president of player personnel in 2003 and then to general manager in 2006. During that time, the Eagles went to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl.

Most recently he served as general manager of the Cleveland Browns, helping to draft Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden in 2012. He was fired by the Browns on Dec. 31, 2012.
