Arthur Brown to Baltimore Ravens after trade

The Baltimore Ravens traded the Nos. 62, 165 and 199 picks in the 2013 NFL Draft to the Seattle Seahawks for the opportunity to draft Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown with the No. 56 overall pick Friday night.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah has noted that the Ravens "love" Brown. That much now is evident.

After drafting Florida's Matt Elam to replace Ed Reed at safety, general manager Ozzie Newsome hand-picked Brown to succeed Ray Lewis, arguably the best inside linebacker in NFL history.

Viewed by many as a legitimate first-round prospect, Brown offers sideline-to-sideline range and tackle-shedding ability as the 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. A typically solid Newsome pick, Brown combines college production with impressive game film and a solid performance at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Also regarded as a team leader with the requisite intangibles, Brown should allow the Ravens to cut ties with troubled linebacker Rolando McClain.
