NEW YORK -- With the start of the 2013 NFL Draft's second round still more than an hour away, we decided to take a peek backstage at Radio City Music Hall.
The green room -- teeming with large humans wearing shiny time pieces on Thursday night -- was quiet. This room eventually would be filled with retired players, in New York to read off second- and third-round picks Friday. It was backstage that we bumped into Mark Brunell, who will announce the Jacksonville Jaguars' second-round pick (33rd overall).
Brunell owns every relevant Jaguars passing record, making him an ideal choice for the Jags. But he also has New York Jets ties, spending the final two years of his career as quarterback Mark Sanchez's backup in New York.
"I don't think getting defensive guys is being unfair to Sanchez at all," he said. "Quarterbacks that win Super Bowls, they're obviously good, but it's also because their defense was solid enough to get them there."
After all that's happened, can Sanchez bounce back in New York?
"Absolutely, no question," Brunell said. "No doubt in my mind."
