The Miami Dolphins made it rain in free agency this offseason. They might not be done as they explore a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for offensive tackle Branden Albert.
Oh, and the Dolphins should add a few more pieces in the 2013 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday.
Wide receiver Brian Hartline has *huge* expectations.
"Championship offense," Hartline told South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter Chris Perkins on Tuesday. "I think we got every move we needed to make. We probably could add some depth at certain positions, but we've got all the pieces to the car, now we've just got to put it all together."
That's a high bar to reach with a second-year pro, quarterback Ryan Tannehill, leading a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs since 2008. The organization hasn't won a playoff game since 2000.
The Dolphins' offense added receivers Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson and tight end Dustin Keller. They also lost running back Reggie Bush (Detroit Lions) and offensive tackle Jake Long (St. Louis Rams).
General manager Jeff Ireland has upgraded both sides of the ball through free agency. There's still room for growth, however, for the offense to be championship-caliber. The Dolphins put a lot of faith in running back Lamar Miller, but they can use more depth at the position. And offensive tackle remains a need if they are unable to reach a deal for Albert.
