Jimmy Haslam 'embarrassed' by fraud allegations

Cleveland Browns owner and CEO of Pilot Flying J Jimmy Haslam said Monday that he was "embarrassed" when he read the FBI and IRS affidavit alleging that Haslam's company was engaged in a fraud scheme designed to keep money owed to its customers.

"I don't think I've ever been as embarrassed," Haslam told reporters. "That was the most painful 48 hours I've experienced in the business."

Haslam did not address anything involving the Browns on Monday, but he outlined his course of action for fixing Pilot Flying J in a long statement. He put several members of his staff on indefinite leave.

"Eight days ago we had the best reputation, best trust in the trucking industry. Now we have the worst," Haslam said.

The NFL previously said that it would not ask Haslam to step down as owner of the Browns while his company is being investigated.
