Darrelle Revis: New York Jets lied about keeping me

Darrelle Revis is ready to make some noise as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But for one more day, he still was willing to criticize the organization that drafted him.

Darlington: An inevitable trade
Jets fans might get upset seeing Darrelle Revis on the Bucs, but Jeff Darlington says this was the right move for everyone. More ...

"I feel like I haven't gotten the truth (from the Jets)," Revis told Newsday, the New York Daily News and the New York Post on Monday. "Anybody who tells you, 'You're going to be a Jet,' but what's the truth? ... Definitely I feel like I haven't gotten the truth."

Revis said he spoke to Jets general manager John Idzik last Wednesday. Idzik told him that he wanted Revis to remain a Jet.

"I know it's a lie," Revis said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Revis insisted that he wanted to remain a Jet, but the team never approached him about a long-term contract. (The Jets tell a different story.) It's clear Revis has a bigger problem with Jets owner Woody Johnson and Idzik than with coach Rex Ryan.

"Woody (didn't) want to talk to me. He stayed as far away as he could. ... As a friend, I feel for Rex. He played a big part in my career. I feel for him," Revis said.

Ryan always talked up Revis as the best cornerback in the NFL. If that's the case, picking off Mark Sanchez in Week 1 should be no problem.
