Inside the Schedule

he Packers opened and closed last season with ugly losses to the 49ers. The schedule gods have given Green Bay a shot at early season revenge with a Week 1 rematch against San Francisco. Next come the Redskins, meaning we'll find out right away if Mike McCarthy's staff is ready for the read-option. Drawing the nettlesome AFC North makes this a challenging slate, and Green Bay's final four games -- against the Falcons, Cowboys, Steelers and Bears -- will keep the Packers on their toes heading into January.
Key Game
Week 1 at 49ers
Green Bay's biggest challenge might be its first. The Packers were embarrassed by Colin Kaepernick's ground assault in the playoffs. This season-opening rematch against the 49ers will tell us everything we need to know about Dom Capers' defense. If they can hold their own against Jim Harbaugh and Co., the Packers again look like heavyweights in the NFC.
