Jim Leonhard, New Orleans Saints strike one-year contract

METAIRIE, La. -- General manager Mickey Loomis says the New Orleans Saints agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free-agent safety Jim Leonhard.

Leonhard, an eight-year veteran, played for the Denver Broncos last season. The 5-foot-8, 188-pound former Wisconsin standout also has played for the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets.

Last season, Leonhard played in all 16 games and had one start. He had two interceptions and was credited with 17 tackles to go with a special teams stop and a special teams fumble recovery.

He also returned 15 punts for 89 yards. Leonhard has started 61 games in his career. He has eight career interceptions.
