Denver Broncos 2013 first-round mock draft

How NFL.com analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Denver Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 28: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State

As my collegue Daniel Jeremiah always points out, there's not 28 better players in this draft. A bad combine workout saw Werner's stock slide, but there's too much talk surrounding the negatives and zero focus on the positives.

Charles Davis

No. 28: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia

This former safety can fly from the linebacker position, whether it's inside or on the perimeter. Ogletree has top-10 talent, so this is a great value pick for the Broncos.

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 28: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State

The Broncos don't have many glaring needs on their roster, but they could always use more pass rushers, especially following the departure of Elvis Dumervil.

Bucky Brooks

No. 28: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina

John Fox loves having hard-hat-and-lunch-pail guys along the front line. Williams falls into that category, but he is also a disruptive playmaker who complements his rugged game with sneaky speed and quickness.

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 28: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue

Short has the first-step quickness and playmaking skill set to disrupt any offense in the league.
» Full mock draft

Gil Brandt

No. 28: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

Trufant, who has probably made as much progress as any prospect this year, had a fantastic workout at Washington's Pro Day. Denver needs corners; as the best remaining one on the board at this point, Trufant is a good fit for the Broncos. He has speed and athletic ability, and he will tackle. Trufant's brothers, Marcus and Isaiah, both play in the NFL.

Charley Casserly

No. 28: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M

Moore, who terrorized the SEC last season, plays faster than his timed speed.
» Full mock draft

Josh Norris

No. 28: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

Defensive tackle is a possibility, but the Broncos re-signed Kevin Vickerson and have been linked to Terrance Knighton. Champ Bailey isn't getting younger, and Trufant has very quick feet to mirror receivers downfield.
