Cincinnati Bengals 2013 first-round mock draft

How analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 21: Matt Elam, FS, Florida

I like Elam more than Eric Reid. It's that simple. I know Elam is small, but so is Earl Thomas and he went top 15. The defense was the Bengals' strength despite poor play at the safety position. Elam has a nose for the ball and the hitting power to really put the hurt on the opponent.

Charles Davis

No. 21: Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State

Raw, but a terrific prospect to help upgrade Cincy's O-line.
» Full mock draft

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 21: Eric Reid, FS, LSU

Reid, who was very good on tape in 2011 but struggled in 2012, is a tough one to figure out. The Bengals love high-ceiling prospects from power programs, and Reid fits that profile.

Bucky Brooks

No. 21: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama

If the as-yet-unresolved Andre Smith saga ends with his departure, the Bengals could fill the remaining void with this big, physical and rugged blocker.
» Full mock draft

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 21: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

The Bengals finished seventh in pass defense in 2012. To stay stout against the NFL's best aerial attacks, adding depth at the corner position makes sense.

Gil Brandt

No. 21: Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State

If the Bengals lose Andre Smith via free agency, they could use the offensive line help. Watson has worked out well and is very tough. Worth noting: Bengals tight end coach Jonathan Hayes has been to the workouts of every tight end prospect out there, which tells me that if Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert is available, Cincinnati might take him.

Charley Casserly

No. 21: Keenan Allen, WR, California

Quarterback Andy Dalton needs a second weapon on the outside to complement A.J. Green.
» Full mock draft

Josh Norris

No. 21: John Cyprien, FS, Florida International

Cyprien takes aggressive but reliable angles and never shies away from contact. He and Reggie Nelson would be quite a tandem.
