Chicago Bears 2013 first-round mock draft

How analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Chicago Bears in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 20: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia

I put Manti Te'o in this spot in my last mock, but Ogletree is on the board and he's the superior player. I know they signed DJ Williams, and there is still hope that perhaps Brian Urlacher will be interested in coming back at a highly reduced rate, but Ogletree is an athlete who injects some youth into an aging Bears defense.

Charles Davis

No. 20: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

Yes, the Bears are counting on WR Alshon Jeffery to make a big leap this year, but Patterson is just too explosive to pass up at this point in the draft.

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 20: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina

Fluker isn't very athletic, but he's a mauler in the run game. He could play either right tackle or slide inside to play right guard. He would provide a nice boost to Matt Forte and the rest of the rushing attack in Chicago.

Bucky Brooks

No. 20: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

Yes, Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings are still in their prime, but now is the time to groom a young replacement for a key role down the road. Trufant is a classic nickel corner with instincts, awareness and ball skills.

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 20: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia

Brian Urlacher headlined the Bears' defense for over a decade, but that era has come to a close. Ogletree is a fabulous option at this spot in the draft.

Gil Brandt

No. 20: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame

The Bears have to replace Brian Urlacher, and they've always done well with players from Notre Dame. Te'o's had a rocky past few months, but I think the issues he faced (the "catfishing," the poor play in the BCS title game and his slow 40 time at the combine) caused him to drop down much lower than he should have.

Charley Casserly

No. 20: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia

The Bears' advancing age at linebacker makes this a natural fit.
» Full mock draft

Josh Norris

No. 20: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama

The Bears just spent a lot of money on free-agent left tackle Jermon Bushrod, but Warmack would solidify one spot along the interior.
