How NFL.com analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 17: Keenan Allen, WR, California

The Steelers need an upgrade at wide receiver and are fortunate it's a deep receiver class. I'm not giving up my Pac-12 bias on this one. You can't convince me there's a better receiver in the draft than Allen. He will be the steal of the draft.

Charles Davis

No. 17: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia

Medical and speed concerns are present, but his tape says he plays fast. A wide receiver will merit serious consideration here, too.

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 17: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia

The best way to sum up Jones: excellent in pads, horrible in shorts. His stock took a bit of a hit following his pro day, but I don't see him falling too far, thanks to his proven ability to get after the passer.

Bucky Brooks

No. 17: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

The Steelers' offense needs more juice after losing Mike Wallace in free agency. Patterson is an exceptional playmaker with the ball in his hands; with his talents, he could thrive in offensive coordinator Todd Haley's quick-rhythm passing game.

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 17: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

Rhodes plays the game like a throwback physical corner in press coverage. The Steelers like that style of play.

Gil Brandt

No. 17: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia

I'm not sure he'll be able to play in space; he'll probably have to play with his hand on the ground. When he's going forward, he looks pretty special, but is he big enough to succeed in the NFL? He posted a pair of slow 40 times (4.92 seconds) at Georgia's Pro Day; does that lack of speed mean the difference between getting a sack and the quarterback getting the ball off? I like some things about him, but overall, I'm not nearly as enthusiastic as many other observers. Star Lotulelei also could go here if his health checks out.

Charley Casserly

No. 17: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia

The deep threat to replace Mike Wallace.

Josh Norris

No. 17: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

A surprise, yes, but unless the Steelers opt to address a need at linebacker, they can roll the dice on an explosive playmaker.
