Miami Dolphins 2013 first-round mock draft

How analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Miami Dolphins in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 12: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

A need pick. Never one you want to make when you're selecting this high, and I'm still not sold on it entirely. There's too much depth at the position to take Rhodes here, but it's a glaring hole for the Dolphins, and they'll reach to fill it.

Charles Davis

No. 12: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

Another team that might be interested in moving up in the draft for an OT, but CB is also a big need for Miami. Remember when they drafted Vontae Davis and Sean Smith in the same draft? Neither remains with the team.

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 12: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

The Dolphins have lost both of their starting cornerbacks over the past year (Vontae Davis was traded to the Indianapolis Colts while Sean Smith departed via free agency). Rhodes is a raw prospect, but his combination of size, length and speed is very intriguing.

Bucky Brooks

No. 12: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

Rhodes easily slides into the role vacated by Sean Smith during the offseason. The Florida State standout is a sticky press corner with exceptional size, strength and speed.

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 12: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama

The Dolphins need to take a deeper look at the offensive line, especially after losing Jake Long to the St. Louis Rams. Fluker is an intimidating presence who plays with a great sense of urgency.

Gil Brandt

No. 12: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina

Cooper is pretty good -- a very athletic player who can be used at several different spots, including center. He doesn't look as big as some NFL guards, but he has a great attitude. I think he'll be around for a number of years.

Charley Casserly

No. 12: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State

Will Tampa Bay jump Miami to snag this rangy cornerback?
» Full mock draft

Josh Norris

No. 12: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma

Dolphins fans seem satisfied with Jonathan Martin as a full-time replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. I am not. With a new vertical target on the perimeter (Mike Wallace), Ryan Tannehill will need more time in the pocket than he received in 2012.
