Buffalo Bills 2013 first-round mock draft

How NFL.com analysts are projecting the first-round picks for the Buffalo Bills in the 2013 NFL Draft:

Matt "Money" Smith

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Smith and Johnson are going to the Cardinals and Bills -- it's just a question of who goes where. While I pointed out that the Cards couldn't justify selecting Johnson ahead of Smith, he's still worthy of being a top-10 pick. The Bills must solidify that offensive line and get their QB project in the second or third round. (At least then the latter will be protected when he's taking snaps.)

Charles Davis

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Just can't believe a QB will not be selected in the top 10. The recent acquisition of Kevin Kolb is a stopgap move in Buffalo.

Daniel Jeremiah

No. 8: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia

With the addition of Kevin Kolb, the Bills are free to take the best available player on their draft board. Austin is electric on tape, and his workouts have generated an extraordinary amount of buzz in NFL circles. This offense needs more playmakers, and Austin would be a great fit.

Bucky Brooks

No. 8: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama

The loss of Andy Levitre via free agency could force GM Buddy Nix to solidify the offensive line with Warmack. Not only would the Alabama standout fortify the Bills' ground attack, he could help keep Kevin Kolb upright in the pocket.

Akbar Gbajabiamila

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

The Bills need a spark in the offense. Smith is accustomed to playing in cold weather and has the physical tools to resurrect a franchise.

Gil Brandt

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

More time will be spent on Smith, who attracted attention from the Jaguars and Eagles at his pro day, than on any other player in this draft. This is an interesting case in that I don't think anybody has a handle on who will pick him or how high he'll be drafted. I like him going to Buffalo, where I think he'll be pretty good. Matt Barkley could be another option for the Bills.

Charley Casserly

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Will the Bills take a quarterback in the opening round or wait until Round 2?

Josh Norris

No. 8: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Doug Marrone faced Smith at the college level, and although he has an obvious Syracuse connection with Ryan Nassib, I think he can recognize the West Virginia product's superior talent.
