Tim Hightower, New York Giants reportedly will meet

The New York Giants have stayed mostly quiet in the running back free-agent market, seemingly happy to let Ahmad Bradshaw walk away in free agency. David Wilson and Andre Brown remain on the roster, but the team could still add some veteran depth.

Free-agent running back Tim Hightower will visit the Giants over the weekend, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday. Hightower was an effective third-down back while with the Arizona Cardinals, and he did a nice job as a starter for the Washington Redskins before tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in 2011. He tried to return in training camp last season, but he clearly wasn't 100 percent and he spent the season out of football.

Hightower brings a lot of the same toughness and passing-down skills Bradshaw left behind. If healthy, he'd be a smart addition to compete for snaps behind Wilson. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Giants also looked for a pick in the middle or late rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft.
