The New Orleans Saints continue to wait on Nnamdi Asomugha's decision. If the cornerback chooses the San Francisco 49ers, a play for free-agent defensive end Dwight Freeney could be next for the Saints.
Freeney has been linked to the Denver Broncos, who had the longtime Peyton Manning teammate in for a visit last week. Rapoport wrote on Twitter that he hasn't heard "much traction" on Freeney and the Broncos, though Denver might just be exploring all of its options after losing Elvis Dumervil to the Baltimore Ravens.
Freeney struggled last season in the Indianapolis Colts' 3-4 defense -- the same scheme the Saints are switching to under new coordinator Rob Ryan. If the Saints import Freeney solely as a pass-rush specialist, this will be less of an issue.
