Osi Umenyiora visits Atlanta Falcons, takes physical

Osi Umenyiora was one of the biggest NFL free agents who hadn't made a single visit to an NFL team. His streak ended Wednesday.

NFL Network's Lindsay Rhodes reported Wednesday night that Umenyiora visited with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday and was taking a physical.

USA Today's Mike Garafolo first reported Umenyiora's visit. Umenyiora was tied to the Falcons in pre-free agency speculation, but he clearly hasn't been a priority for any team. The Miami Dolphins also reportedly have contacted Umenyiora's agent.

This could be a case where Umenyiora's representatives miscalculated his market. He was hoping for one last big payday, but aging pass rushers are too easy to find with Elvis Dumervil, Dwight Freeney and John Abraham all looking for work. If Cliff Avril only can get $6.5 million from the Seattle Seahawks, Umenyiora might have to settle for much less than that from the Falcons.

The Falcons need pass-rush help, and playing on turf would suit Umenyiora's skill set. This is a match that makes a lot of sense.
