Manti Te'o would be a joke target on Houston Texans

The Houston Texans own the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. If they use it on Manti Te'o, the Notre Dame linebacker should expect an uncomfortable start with teammates.

Texans defensive end Antonio Smith said Te'o would be the subject of considerable hazing thanks to, well, youknow.

"Our locker room is full of clowns and, oh man, people would kill him," Smith said on NBC Sports Network's "Pro Football Talk." "I mean, he would be the butt of every joke for at least two, three years."

Smith said Te'o's chances of fitting in depend on how he reacts to the ribbing.

"You just got to be a good sport, man," Smith said. "It is what it is, and you know it is out now, it's out in the papers and on TV. So, all you can do now, you can't worry about it, you can't change it, all you can do now is laugh -- laugh with us while we're laughing at you."

It's unlikely the Texans actually will draft Te'o given their needs, but Te'o should be prepared for a reaction where ever he winds up. If nothing else, Smith's comments show that Te'o's long, awkward journey won't end on stage at Radio City Music Hall.

We're sure he's thrilled about that.
