Chicago Bears tell D.J. Moore he won't return to team

The Chicago Bears told cornerback D.J. Moore he no longer will be with the team, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.

The four-year veteran saw the writing on the wall recently when he said he'd like to try out at safety.

Moore lost his nickel back spot to Kelvin Hayden last season. The Bears would like to resign Hayden, who is set to become a free agent, to complement Pro Bowl starters Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings.

The former fourth-round pick will enter the free-agent market on March 12. While teams always can use a cornerback with starting experience, Moore enters a market with a surplus of low-tier defensive backs.

Moore tweeted his sentiments Monday night after learning of the team's decision.
