NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock ranks Oregon defensive end Dion Jordan as the top outside linebacker prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft.
After Jordan finished tied for third in the 40-yard dash with an official time of 4.60 seconds Monday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Mayock suggested the player could be reunited with new Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly as the fourth overall draft pick.
"When I see (Jordan) play, I see a raw Aldon Smith," Mayock said. "He needs to gain 20 pounds (to fill out his 6-foot-7 frame)."
Unlike Smith, Jordan excels in pass coverage. The question is if he can match Smith's disruptive pass-rushing ability.
» The Eagles will have several options at No. 4, including Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd. One of Mayock's favorites, Floyd turned in a "phenomenal" 4.92 performance in the 40. "The way he goes from sideline to sideline reminds me of Warren Sapp a little bit," Mayock said. "Best three-technique in the draft. The only question is, 'How many snaps will he get?' "
» BYU pass rusher Ziggy Ansah showed off his freakish athleticism with an official time of 4.63 in the 40. Drawing comparisons to New York GiantsPro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, Ansah appears to be flying up draft boards despite his inexperience.
» SMU defensive end Margus Hunt might be more athletic than originally billed. A native of Estonia, Hunt arguably boasts the draft's best nickname as the "Eastern Block" for his ability to reject field-goal attempts. Already impressing at the combine with a position-leading 38 repetitions on the bench press, the 6-foot-8 Hunt turned heads with an official 4.60 in the 40.
» Auburn defensive end Corey Lemonier tied Jordan at the top with an official 4.60. He's considered a second- or third-round prospect at outside linebacker.
UPDATE: Connecticut's Trevardo Williams posted the official fastest time in the 40 at 4.57. LSU's Barkevious Mingo clocked in second at 4.58.
