Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly didn't exactly paint a rosy picture of Nnamdi Asomugha's future with the team Thursday. Asked for his assessment of the veteran cornerback, Kelly struggled.
"I think Nnamdi has the skill set ... that can play football," Kelly told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Don't bank on that happening in Philly.
Our friend Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will meet with Asomugha's agent, Ben Dogra, on Friday morning to discuss the player's future with the team. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Eagles will ask Asomugha to restructure his contract -- he's set to earn $15 million this season, with $4 million guaranteed -- or be released.
Asomugha has been an expensive disappointment for the Eagles. After some decent play in 2011, Asomugha was a mess last season, often caught out of position and failing to mesh with free-agent-to-be Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The current coaching staff didn't lure Asomugha to Philly, and they aren't about to pay this kind of money for a player whose production has tipped off a cliff.
