Harrison is due to make $6.57 million in 2013 and $7.575 million in 2014. He's a former NFL defensive player of the year, but is 35 years old, missed eight games the last two years and had a combined 15 sacks in those seasons. The Steelers would get $5.1 million in cap relief if they were to flat-out release Harrison, but that won't happen.
Harrison isn't the unblockable force he once was, but he's still an asset when healthy. The Steelers will likely approach Parise at some point and the two parties will find a middle ground.
