Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan tangle on Twitter

Newly minted Pro Football Hall of Fame member Warren Sapp made a career out of destroying quarterbacks. Now he's going after one of his own.

Sapp, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle, acknowledged doubts over making the Hall because he sensed a one-on-one competition for votes with Michael Strahan, the former New York Giants defensive end who, like NFL Network's Sapp, has marched on to an active career in broadcasting.

"Say if I rewind this to Saturday at 12 o'clock. Me and you are sitting and I say, 'It breaks down whatever and whatever and then you have Michael Strahan and me. C'mon, the menace and the media darling,' " Sapp told WDAE-AM in Tampa, via ProFootballTalk. "C'mon. Madness, or 'Good Morning America'? I mean, c'mon."

Predictably, Strahan responded, leading to a Friday morning Twitter flare-up that continues on, even as we post this (yes, the offseason has officially arrived).

Shortly after posting, Sapp deleted two of his tweets. After Strahan tweeted "You don't need to take a shot at me," Sapp responded "u got my #!" Sapp later tweeted "Tell Us Why You Really Mad Son?" before taking it down.
