NFL.com's Jeff Darlington reported Sunday night that Ryan had separated his non-throwing shoulder and that he would have been able to play had the Falcons advanced to the Super Bowl.

Ryan was hurt just after the two-minute warning. On a 5-yard pass that Jason Snelling took down to the San Francisco 10, linebacker Ahmad Brooks got a shot on the Atlanta quarterback. Ryan's next two passes were incomplete, sealing the 49ers' 28-24 victory.

Smith confirmed that Ryan would have been available for the Super Bowl in two weeks. Smith said Ryan's injury will not require surgery but would keep the quarterback out of the Pro Bowl.
