Jim Harbaugh on brother John: 'I'm half the coach he is'

John and Jim Harbaugh have reached the NFL's final four for a second consecutive season. A potential Har-Bowl looms.

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, not known as a guy who likes to reflect, does admit it's pretty cool moment for the family.

"It's a harder job to get than a U.S. senator," Jim Harbaugh told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "And we've got two of them.

Jim Harbaugh, who watched the Baltimore Ravens' divisional-round win Saturday, calls his brother the best coach in the NFL. His reasoning: No other head coach has the mastery of offense, defense and special teams like John Harbaugh.

"I'm half the coach he is," the 49ers coach said.

We appreciate the familial love here but have to strongly disagree. Jim's 49ers team is the toughest in the NFL to prepare for on both sides of the ball. They do more creative things offensively in a week than the Ravens have done in John Harbaugh's five years at the helm.

John Harbaugh is a very good head coach -- the Ravens' playoff consistency speaks to that -- but Jim Harbaugh is a difference maker. He turned the 49ers from a mess into one of the best teams in the league right away. If we had to select a Harbaugh to lead our team, there's no question Jim would be the pick.
