Has Brian Billick emerged as a sleeper candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles' head-coaching job?
CSNPhilly.com reported Sunday that Billick interviewed with the Eagles last week. Multiple outlets later confirmed the interview took place.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport told Rich Eisen on "NFL GameDay Final" that Billick interviewed with the Eagles for several hours last Monday. Billick -- who currently works as an analyst for NFL Network and Fox -- didn't offer much in the way of details to Rapoport, only divulging that he speaks with "a lot of teams."
Billick, 58, went 80-64 in nine seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before being fired after the 2007 season. He took the franchise to its only Super Bowl title in 2000.
Billick first made his name in the NFL as the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator. The Eagles appear focused on bringing in a coach who can develop a quarterback and fix an offense that averaged just 17.5 points per game in 2012.
The Eagles have interviewed eight candidates since firing coach Andy Reid at the conclusion of a 4-12 season. The team will interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden on Monday and Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on Tuesday. Billick is an intriguing figure in this mix.
