Jacksonville Jaguars assistants OK'd to find other jobs

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey survived Black Monday, but he's not in the clear yet. Not by a long shot.

Citing a team source, NFL.com's Steve Wyche reported Friday that Jaguars assistant coaches have been cleared by the team to seek jobs with other NFL teams.

The timing here could be bad news for Mularkey. The Jaguars are in the market for a new general manager after firing Gene Smith, and a replacement conceivably could agree to join the team on the condition he'll get to pick his own coach.

The Jaguars' miserable 2-14 season obviously has left Mularkey vulnerable. With his staff getting the go-ahead to find other work, something significant might have changed between Monday and now.
