Victor Cruz, New York Giants to resume contract talks?

The contract talks between Victor Cruz and the New York Giants went silent down the stretch of the regular season. Apparently there was a reason.

"It got tabled for a couple weeks, mainly because of the two sides agreeing to disagree at the same time," Cruz said on WFAN Radio, according to ESPNNewYork.com. "Now that the season's over and the statistics are what they are, I think we're going to get back and pick up the pen again and see what we can do."

Cruz was voted to the Pro Bowl for the first time after catching 86 passes for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, although the Giants missed the playoffs. Cruz, who had 82 receptions for 1,536 yards and nine TDs in 2011, has remained upbeat about the negotiations.

"Obviously, you never know, it's all negotiations, but I feel positive that I'm gonna be in New York for a very long time," said Cruz, who'll be a restricted free agent in the offseason. "And I feel positive that myself and my agents will get something done with the management of the Giants.

Power Poll: Denver's fast finish

A season-ending 11-game winning streak gave Peyton Manning's Broncos the top spot in the final regular-season rankings. Where did your team finish? **More...**

"I feel comfortable where we're at. I think I've done enough to show them I'm a good guy on and off the field, and that I've done everything positive up until this point to prove that I'm somebody that the organization will want to keep around for a long time. I'm positive things will come around and a positive outcome will come out of all this."

This will get done one way or another. The Giants would not be very smart to develop the undrafted Cruz into a Pro Bowl receiver, then let him leave as he enters his prime.
